Wenger says Arsenal have no imminent transfers

Arsenal have been linked with a massive number of players this summer but until a deal is agreed then

Arsene Wenger will not want to discuss it. That is why we should not be too concerned with his denial of any transfers on the horizon.

When asked directly if Arsenal were close to signings he replied, “No, maybe we will sign a Malaysian player.”
Roughly translated that means, “what a stupid question. I would not tell you if we were.” According to the Daily Mail, Spanish midfield star Santi Cazorla has agreed personal terms with the Gunners and Arsenal have tabled a bid of £16 million with his club, Malaga.

Wenger responded to a direct question about Cazorla at the weekend by claiming not to be aware of the player. It seems to me that Wenger is having fun with reporters to keep himself entertained. He might also have entertained himself by winding up Tottenham and their new boss Andre Villas-Boas.
Metro reports that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has become suspicious about rumours linking Lyon and France keeper Hugo Lloris with Arsenal. Tottenham believe that Lyon boss Remi Garde and Arsene Wenger invented the interest from Arsenal to force Spurs into upping their offer. Garde worked under Wenger for three years and the pair are close friends.

Maybe Wenger is just sick of other teams suddenly becoming interested in players after hearing that Arsenal are linked with them. Wenger plays his cards close to his chest, and who can blame him? He has done good business so far this summer, with Podolski and Giroud, and there is plenty of time before the transfer window closes.
